Funeral for Dublin shooting victim Brandon Ledwidge to take place

Finglas shooting victim Brandon Ledwidge will be laid to rest tomorrow following a funeral mass in Dublin.
Ledwidge (23) was shot several times as he answered the door of his home on Barry Drive at around 7pm on Saturday, November 18.
A death notice on RIP.ie states that Brandon, who is the “beloved son of Sabrina and John, cherished brother of Byron, Ellie, Kaci and Daryl” died “suddenly and unexpectedly” earlier this month.
“He will be sadly missed by his family, nanny and grandad, brother-in-law Kian, nephew Kruz, niece Ruby, his girlfriend, cousins, extended family and friends,” the announcement reads.
His funeral mass will take place at St Canice's Church in Finglas Village at 11.30am, followed by a burial in Glasnevin Cemetery.
Tributes and condolences have poured in online from people expressing their sadness at his death, with one person writing: “So sorry for the loss of your beloved son. I hope Brandon gets the best bed in heaven and guides yous through the healing process.”
A pal said: “Bran. Took everything fresh. A natural leader. Fiercely loyal to those he loved and funny. Laughs. Life was to be enjoyed. We'll remember the good times. RIP.”
And another added: “Deepest sympathy to Brandon's family at this very sad time. May Brandon send you strength in the days ahead and watch over you all. Rest in peace, forever 23.”
Last week, the Sunday World revealed how Ledwidge was due in court on November 21 on drug possession and intent to sell charges.
The 23-year-old was facing three separate charges for possession of heroin and cocaine with the intent of sale or supply.
Two charges relating to the possession of cocaine and diamorphine and two of possession for sale or supply were due to be heard last Tuesday.
We previously reported that Brandon Ledwidge was not considered a serious criminal but had links to gangsters “far higher up the food chain than him”, according to sources.

A gunman who had called to the home opened fire, shooting the victim four times in the head and body.
He was shot at close range and “didn’t stand a chance” sources added.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem was last week completed by the State Pathologist Dr Sally Ann Collis, “the results of which are not being released for operational reasons” according to the Garda Press Office.
“A technical examination of the scene has since been completed by the Garda Technical Bureau.”
“The investigation is being led by a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) and a Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to liaise with the family of the deceased.”
